Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 October 2026

Zoom Out is a daily photo guessing game at zoomout.dev and inside Discord. It's run by Nawar, an individual based in Switzerland. The short version: no accounts, no cookies, no ads, and nothing that identifies you personally is stored by us, unless you allow the Discord server scoreboard (see "Playing inside Discord").

Questions or requests: hello@zoomout.dev

What stays on your device

Your results, streaks and settings are saved in your own browser (local storage), along with a random player ID. This never leaves your device unless described below. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for zoomout.dev.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA). Like any web host, Vercel's servers process technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages, and may keep short-term logs for security and reliability. See Vercel's privacy policy. All fonts are served from zoomout.dev itself, not from Google or other third parties.

Visitor statistics

On the website, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It uses no cookies and no fingerprinting, and only shows us totals (such as page views and countries), never individual visitors. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. Visitor statistics are not collected inside Discord.

Player statistics

To show how you compare ("faster than X% of players"), the result of the daily puzzle may be sent to our database at Supabase (servers in the EU, Frankfurt). Only these items are sent: the puzzle date, how many guesses you needed, whether you solved it, and your random player ID. No name, email, IP address or Discord account is stored with it. Results can only be read as totals.

Playing inside Discord

When you play Zoom Out as a Discord Activity, the game is loaded through Discord, and Discord processes your use of it under Discord's privacy policy. Discord passes technical IDs (such as the ID of the channel the Activity runs in) needed to run the game.

Server scoreboard. When you open the Activity, Discord asks whether Zoom Out may see your basic account info (the "identify" permission: your user ID, username and avatar). If you allow it and finish the daily puzzle in a server, we store your Discord user ID, that server's ID, the date and your result (how many guesses, solved or not), and the bot posts it in that channel as a result card (an image with your Discord display name and profile picture, your zoom trail and whether you solved it), followed by a "today in this server" scoreboard. Your name and picture are taken from Discord when the card is made and aren't stored by us. These results are deleted after 30 days. If you don't allow it, you can still play; you just won't appear on the scoreboard. We never receive your email, messages, servers list or friends list.

If a server admin turns on daily posts with /zoomout setup, we store that server's ID and the chosen channel's ID (in our Supabase database) so the bot knows where to post. Nothing about the admin or other members is stored. /zoomout stop deletes it.

Tips

If you choose to support Zoom Out with a tip, that happens on Ko-fi, under Ko-fi's privacy policy. Ko-fi and its payment partners (PayPal or Stripe) handle the payment; we never see your card or account details. Ko-fi tells us the name and message you choose to leave.

What we don't do

Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, for players in the EU, the GDPR, you can ask what data we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Because results are stored only with a random ID, we usually can't link them to you, but we'll help where we can. Write to hello@zoomout.dev. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or your local data protection authority.

Children

Zoom Out is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone. Inside Discord, Discord's own age requirements apply.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
